Road Renewal Complete on Key Bowral Route

A major road renewal project on Bowral Street has been completed, improving safety, drainage and driving conditions along one of Bowral’s busiest routes.
The $850,000 project was funded through the Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery Program.
Completed in May, the works have improved over 350 metres of road outside Bowral and District Hospital, a key gateway into the Bowral town centre.
The section had been identified as being in poor condition, with significant surface deterioration, inadequate drainage and flooding during heavy rainfall.
The project included pavement reconstruction, new asphalt surfacing, drainage improvements, refreshed line marking and signage installation. Council worked closely with the Hospital throughout construction to maintain access for patients, emergency services and bus routes, while minimising disruption wherever possible.

Carol Berry MP, Member for Whitlam, said the project directly responds to the community’s calls for local road improvements.
“The Southern Highlands community has expressed ongoing concerns about the state of local roads, and the Federal Government is pleased to be partnering with Wingecarribbee Council to assist in addressing these concerns. I will continue to advocate for Federal Government investment in local road infrastructure for the Wingecarribee.”
“I’m very pleased the repairs to Bowral Street will deliver a safer experience on an important section of local road, given its proximity to Bowral Hospital,” Ms Berry said.
“I want to thank Wingecarribee Shire Council for managing this project and I thank the local community for their patience as the works were completed.”

"Bowral Street is a major thoroughfare into town and an important road to get right, particularly given its location outside Bowral and District Hospital,” Mayor Fitzpatrick said.
“This project demonstrates that we're making real progress in renewing critical infrastructure, getting the job done and fixing the Shire’s roads.”
