Constituency Statement: Mick Galligan, and Allan ‘Squeaker’ Carroll

Tuesday 27 October 2026

I rise today to recognise two legends of the Shellharbour Sharks Rugby League Football Club – Mick Galligan, and Allan ‘Squeaker’ Carroll.

The Shellharbour Sharks are an important part of the local Shellharbour community - built on generations of a love of rugby league, family and friendship.

Mick Galligan has been a part of the Shellharbour Sharks for an incredible 58 years.

Allan Carroll has been involved with the Club for 61 years.

Allan Carroll was recently honoured by receiving the Unsung Heroes Award at the Shellharbour Club Community Awards.

Mick Galligan has been an institution in the Shellharbour community for many decades.

He was the President of the Shellharbour Sharks in the late 1970s.

He was also the President of the Shellharbour Swimming Club, Vice-President of the Shellharbour Cricket Club and was also involved in the Wollongong Legacy through the Warilla Bowling Club.

Mick Galligan and Allan Carroll are two individuals whose contributions to the Shellharbour Sharks have been honoured through Life Membership, reflecting their place in the Sharks’ proud history.

Mick’s wife Margaret Galligan, now 94 years old, is also a Life Member of the Sharks.

Life membership is a significant honour.

It recognises a lasting contribution that extends beyond individual matches and seasons. Mick and Allan have helped to safeguard the club’s culture, preserved its traditions and they’ve created a proud legacy for future generations.

Thank you, Mick and Allan, for your enormous contribution to the Shellharbour community.
