Safety Boost for Albion Park with New Tongarra Road Crossing

The Albanese and Minns Labor Governments have delivered a new pedestrian crossing on Tongarra Road at Albion Park, improving safety for pedestrians crossing this busy section of road.
Transport for NSW completed the work over the past two weeks, with the crossing now open and available for use by the community.
The project included the installation of new kerb and a concrete pedestrian refuge in the centre of the highway, located approximately 190 metres west of Hamilton Road.
Additional improvements include upgraded road surface, enhanced street lighting, new line marking and signage to support safer travel for all road users.
As part of the safety upgrades, motorists will also notice changes to on-street parking arrangements near the crossing to accommodate the new infrastructure.
These improvements were delivered following safety reviews carried out after a fatality at this location in October 2022.
Transport for NSW carefully assessed traffic conditions, pedestrian movements and potential impacts on all road users to identify the safest and most effective treatment for the site.
This targeted approach ensures the solution is appropriate for the location and delivers lasting safety benefits for the local community.
