Construction Commences on Aged Care Facility at Harbison Burradoo

Construction is commencing on a new residential care home in Burradoo, with the Albanese Labor Government investing $27.5 million to support the development.
The facility is operated by Harbison and will provide 72 new aged care places, expanding access to quality dementia, respite, palliative and residential aged care services in the Southern Highlands.
A sod-turning event will take place at 9:45 am on 23 April at 2 Charlotte Street Burradoo and media is invited to attend.
The new Harbison facility is among 52 infrastructure projects that are funded through Round 2 of the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program (ACCAP). This $250 million program aims to improve existing or construct new aged care homes in regional areas.
The Federal Government has recently announced another $115 million investment in four regions across the country under the ACCAP, including for the Illawarra. This funding has been dedicated to rapidly increase aged care beds in hotspots across the country – the Illawarra region being one of them.
This most recently announced funding round is open to providers in the Illawarra with advanced, ready‑to‑build projects to rapidly increase access to residential aged care. This funding will support projects that can open new beds within two years, helping to ease delayed‑discharge pressures in hospitals.
This latest injection of funding brings total ACCAP investment to more than $1 billion since 2022, more than under any previous government.
